Leadership Consulting for Teams That Can't Afford to Avoid Hard Conversations

Get to the root cause.

I go inside your organization like a researcher and tell you the truth about how it actually functions. Starting with the conversations your team isn't having.

Most team dysfunction is not due to a lack of talent. It comes from disagreement going underground. Instead of happening in the room with the people who need to hear the hard thing, the conflict shows up on Slack, in hallway conversations, or as quiet resistance.

As an organizational anthropologist, I observe how your team actually behaves, then build a custom path to help them disagree productively, decide faster, and stop quietly re-litigating decisions for weeks after the meeting ends.

The results:

  • Decisions that stick the first time, not three meetings later

  • Leaders who spend less time managing bickering and more time leading

  • Measurable increases in team trust

  • New managers who know how to have the conversation they were never taught to have as an individual contributor

Who I Work With

You're in the right place if your team is:

  • Making decisions in the room and quietly undoing them in the hallway

  • Avoiding a hard conversation that's now weeks overdue

  • Navigating AI-driven change with a team that's anxious and resistant

  • Technically excellent but struggling with the human dynamics of leadership

Your Strategic Partner through Transformation

Let’s dive into the challenges on your team and develop a game plan to address the dysfunction.

The Situation

Your leadership team looks aligned in the room, but isn't. Decisions get made in the meeting and quietly undone in the hallway afterward. Managers who are technically excellent are struggling to have the conversations their new roles require. Meanwhile, your People Ops team is stretched thin and lacks the bandwidth, or the outside vantage point, to identify the root cause.

How Cultivate Empathy Can Help

  • Organizational Anthropology centers every engagement with a research lens. Instead of pre-built workshops, I observe your team first, then build the intervention around what I actually see.

  • Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach with 25+ years leading teams through high-growth periods, reorganizations, and industry transformations inside healthcare, academia, and technology organizations.

  • McKinsey named empathy as one of the only skills AI will never replicate. Teams that can navigate real disagreement will out-execute their competitors in the years ahead.

Method: Observe. Reveal. Rebuild.

Most consultants bring a framework and hope it fits your team. I don't design the intervention until I've observed your team in the room making decisions. Because the exercise that fixes conflict avoidance at one company will completely miss the mark at another.

Phase 1 — Observe

Before anything can change, you need an honest picture of where you are. I sit in on real meetings and real decisions and conduct a qualitative assessment. Using a proprietary blend of structured interviews, behavioral observation, sentiment analysis, and validated assessment tools to see where disagreement actually goes to die.

Phase 2 — Reveal

I bring the pattern back to your team. I start with a private conversation with the leader and name what I saw in a way that's specific enough to be undeniable, without triggering defensiveness. Research consistently shows leaders can't shift a team's norms alone, but a small number of well-positioned peers can. I identify and equip these Culture Catalysts in Phase 3.

Phase 3 — Rebuild

I design and facilitate a custom program or exercise, built from what I actually observed in your team. I model the new behavior live, so your team practices real, productive conflict instead of just talking about it. We meet regularly to reinforce the new behavior and refine the program as needed. Then we measure what changed and make sure it sticks.
